Celestial

Celestial – A Narrative Journey Through Light, Loss, and the Cosmos

Narrative

Starlight, a celestial being, crashes onto Umbarsh, torn from her sister, Lumina, by the black hole’s pull. In a world abandoned by those who foresaw its end, she must uncover the truth of the black hole—not a force of destruction, but a portal.

Her journey leads to Nova, a being consumed by grief at the loss of his brother Dusk to the black hole, blocking her path. Through compassion and curiosity, she learns his story and why he is trying to stop her. If she gathers enough star fragments, she can cleanse Nova, forge an alliance, and confront the anomaly together. Their combined light could reshape fate—saving Lumina and Dusk while unravelling the black hole’s grip on the universe.

Without enough power from the star fragments, Umbarsh falls, Nova continues his search, and the black hole remains.

Celestial is an evocative blend of mystery, cosmic wonder, and emotional storytelling, where players must observe, learn, and collaborate to bring balance to the stars.

When the celestial being Starlight is torn from her sister Lumina, she awakens on Umbarsh—a forgotten world teetering on the edge of a black hole. As echoes of a collapsed civilisation whisper through the ruins, Starlight’s path intertwines with grief and loss. You must decide her path and the fate of the universe.

At its core, Celestial is about finding meaning in the unknown, connecting with what was left behind, and shaping the future through understanding rather than force.

World building

I crafted environments that evoke mystery and grandeur, balancing organic and religious and astrological elements. Parts of the narrative are woken into the architecture and flora, for example:

- Stained glass windows and door carvings feature two stars representing Starlight and Lumina and three moons in the sky and their paths before the 4th moon catastrophe flooded the planet.

- The flora has adapted to photosynthesise blue light due to the proximity of the moons and the reflection on the water covering the planet.

- Island housing and soft materials are made from the shells of large water dwelling animals, ft. crab shell huts, and jellyfish skin material.
